Types of foundations categorized by supporting strength

•Soft cervical collar: Typically made of sponge or memory foam, it offers a soft texture with slight shaping capabilities, providing only 20%-30% support.

•Rigid cervical collar: The outer layer is made of plastic or metal support, with a soft inner lining, capable of restricting over 90% of neck movement and providing extremely strong fixation.

•Semi-rigid cervical collar: Features a plastic inner lining with a soft outer layer, often with a front opening for easy emergency tracheal access, offering moderate support strength between the two extremes.

Common types classified by special functions

•Inflatable neck brace: equipped with manual inflatable airbags, the height and traction pressure can be adjusted as needed, and it belongs to Class II medical devices.

•Philadelphia neck brace: It is a commonly used adjustable hard neck brace in clinical practice, equipped with mandibular and occipital support, and adjustable height in multiple levels.

•Traction neck brace: Equipped with a mechanical traction strap or adjustment knob, it can provide continuous longitudinal tension and should be used under the guidance of a rehabilitation department.
